What is Orthodontics for Adults?
Adult orthodontic treatments are slightly different than a child treatment or orthodontics for teens. Adults’ bones are fully grown, and so denser and less flexible. This means treatment times may take longer or may require a combination of treatments to reach the desired goal.
For example, if teeth are very crowded it may be beneficial to extract a tooth to increase the space, and then align the remaining teeth. This might be preferable to oral surgery to expand the upper palate to make room for teeth. Each patient is unique and it is best to come for an assessment so we can determine the treatments that would be best suited to your situation.

Sometimes teeth shift back after previous orthodontic treatment and other adults may have experienced trauma to the teeth creating the need for treatment now. No matter what your case is, we are here to help.

Orthodontic Treatments for Adults
We embrace the latest advancements to provide you with treatments that are efficient and effective without interfering too much into your daily life.
The following are some of the orthodontic treatments that adults prefer:
CERAMIC OR CLEAR BRACES
Using the same system of brackets and archwires as traditional braces, you will get great results but with a more discreet look since the colour of the brackets are close to the colour of natural teeth.
Some patients prefer the ceramic material because it may be less abrasive to the movement of the cheeks and tongue.
LIGHTFORCE BRACES
An intraoral scanner to create a digital representation of your teeth will be used to custom fit and create your braces. Many patients report these braces are very comfortable and the brackets are extremely low profile.

We also offer Invisalign for minor orthodontic issues and for patients who desire quick results. Adults have precise concerns and we can tailor just about any orthodontic solution to address your needs.
Remote Dental Monitoring for Your Convenience
We know our adult patients are busy which is why we are proud to offer dental monitoring for your convenience. Dental monitoring makes routine checkups as easy as snapping a selfie and you can complete your treatment with just a smartphone and WiFi.
The app will provide easy instructions to take photos of your teeth and send them in for analysis so we can monitor your progress and make sure your treatment is going as planned. If we see you need any adjustments we can schedule your orthodontic visit at that time.
