Common Orthodontic Problems

While each patient’s case is unique, there are some common issues we see frequently at our clinics. Orthodontic treatment can help:

CROWDING

If you have crooked teeth, especially in the front of your mouth, this is a sign you suffer from crowding. This occurs when there isn’t enough room in your mouth for all of your teeth. Orthodontic treatment can successfully correct crowding, often without the need for any extractions.

UNDERBITE

Also known as a reverse bite, an underbite occurs when the lower jaw juts out past the upper jaw. In most cases, underbites are a straightforward problem to correct.

SPACING

The opposite of crowding is spacing. This is when you have big gaps between your teeth. This common orthodontic problem can be easily fixed with great results.

open bite

If your front and bottom teeth don’t meet together when you bite, you may suffer from an ‘open bite’. An open bite is another misalignment that can be treated with comprehensive orthodontic treatment.

OVERBITE

If your front teeth stick out in front of your bottom teeth when you bite together, you may suffer from an overbite. The good news is that overbites can usually be fixed with a relatively simple orthodontic treatment plan. For teen patients with an overbite it is important to start treatment while they are still growing.
