Australian Society of Orthodontics Foundation Meeting 2013

The Australian Society of Orthodontics Foundation Meeting is being held in Canberra from March 15-17, 2013. The conference is held every second year alternating yearly with the Australian Society of Orthodontics Congress. The conference is principally targeted to provide education for member orthodontists and also includes other special interest topics such as “Sleep, Behaviour, and Learning in Children”.

The keynote lectures for 2013 are “Class II Treatment, Surgery, and Evidence-Based Vs Market Driven Treatment”. This is likely to feature content principally on braces but also should include functional appliances and surgery.

The main mission of the Foundation is to promote and advance research and education in orthodontics. The work of the Foundation is intrinsically involved in the future of orthodontics.

As a way of fostering the education of present and future orthodontic practitioners, the Foundation stages highly successful meetings between Congress years utilising overseas and local lecturers. The Foundation also supports clinics at Foundation and Congress meetings.

The Foundation continues to fund and encourage scientific and clinical research exploring methods for improved orthodontic care, supporting individual and faculty members and postgraduate students which further promotes advancement in the art and science of orthodontics. The next Australian Society of Orthodontics Foundation Meeting will take place in 2015.
