Dr Mike Anderson has some helpful tips on using a whitening pen with your clear aligners. While your teeth are straightening, one of the ways you can whiten your teeth is with a whitening pen.
A whitening pen has a paintbrush-like tip. When you twist the other end of the pen, a bit of gel will come out onto the brush. You can then paint this gel onto your teeth.
Make sure your teeth are clean before applying the whitening gel. Normally you should just do the front 6 teeth on the top and bottom before popping your aligners back in.
Leave the gel on for at least 1 hour. Do not eat, drink or smoke during application or up to at least 30 minutes after treatment. After 30-60 minutes brush your teeth to clean off the excess gel.
Use the whitening pen for 7 days straight then allow your teeth to rest for 7 days and repeat the whitening process for the best results. If your teeth are sensitive we recommend using sensitive toothpaste. If there is any damage to or sensitivity of gums we recommend applying vitamin E oil to your gums.
